SBI Clerk 2016 Pattern and Syllabus

Many of you are asking us about the SBI Clerk syllabus as SBI has changed pattern. This time SBI has changed the pattern of their recruitment exams. But the syllabus remains almost the same.

SBI Clerk 2016 Exam Pattern

Selection Procedure will follow as:

The recruitment process is a 3-tier process.

I. Prelim Exam

This test would be of 1 hour duration consisting of 3 Sections as follows:

There will be an overall cutoff along with sectional cutoff as decided by SBI.

II. Main Exam

The structure of main examination would be as follows:

There will be an overall cutoff along with sectional cutoff as decided by SBI.

Please note that each test will have separate timing as mentioned above.

III. Interview (subject to Govt. of India approval)

The interview will take place or not will be decided later.

Test of knowledge of official and/or local language: Those who produce 10th standard mark sheet/certificate which shows studied official (local) language will not be subjected to any Language test. In case of others, language test will be conducted at the time of interview (if interview is held) /before final selection (if interview is not held).

Candidates not found to be proficient in official and/or local language would be disqualified.

Final Selection

The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be added for the selection and only the marks obtained in Main Examination (Phase-II) will be added to the marks obtained in Interview (Phase-III) (if interview is held) for preparation of the final merit list. Final selection will be made on the basis of candidate’s performance in the test (main examination) and interview (if interview is held) taken together.

SBI Clerk 2016 Exam Syllabus

The Prelim Exam has 3 sections Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability and English.

The Main Exam has 4 sections – Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude, English and General/Financial Awareness. The Computer section which was asked separately earlier is now been included with Reasoning Ability.

Quantitative Aptitude

The topics to be covered in this section are

  • Data Sufficiency
  • Data Interpretation
  • Quadratic Equations
  • Time and Work
  • Partnership
  • Profit and Loss
  • Mensuration
  • Time, Distance and Speed – Trains, Boats n Streams
  • Simple and Compound interest
  • Mixture and Alligation
  • Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Averages

Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude

The topics to be covered for Reasoning Ability are

  • Machine Input/Output
  • Syllogism
  • Blood Relation
  • Direction Sense
  • Inequalities
  • Puzzles – Seating Arrangement, Floor puzzle, etc.
  • Coding Decoding
  • Ranking
  • Statement and Assumptions/Conclusions

The topics to be covered for Computer are

  • Basics of computer, different generations, hardware/software, etc.
  • DBMS
  • Networking
  • Internet
  • MS Office and Shortcuts used in MS Office
  • Input/output Devices, their types
  • Important abbreviations

English

The topics to be covered in this section are

  • Reading comprehension including Synonyms and Antonyms
  • Sentence rearrangement or Para jumbles
  • Sentence Correction/ Error Finding
  • Spell Checks
  • Fillers
  • Cloze Test

General/Financial Awareness

The syllabus for this section is remains vast

The topics included are

  • Current Affairs – covers every current news including related to banking industry, latest appointments, obituaries, awards and honors, books and authors, new schemes of central and state governments, sports, etc.
  • Static GK – topics like headquarters of financial organizations (of insurance companies), country-capital, country-currency, constituencies of ministers, dance forms, nuclear and thermal power stations, etc.
  • Banking/Financial terms
