President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee conferred the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowships and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards for the year 2014 at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan to recognize the achievements of performing artists as well as teachers and scholars in the field of performing arts.

About Sangeet Natak Akademi (SNA)
It is the apex body in the country for the promotion and preservation of the performing arts of the country.  It is India’s National Academy for Music, Dance and Drama established by Indian education ministry in 31 May 1952.

About Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship
The Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship aka Sangeet Natak Akademi Ratna Sadasya is an honour for the performing arts in India established in 1954. It is the highest honour in the performing arts conferred by the Government of India. Cash award is of Rs 3 Lakh.

About Sangeet Natak Akademi Award
Sangeet Natak Akademi Puraskar is an award given by the Sangeet Natak Akademi established in 1952. It is the highest Indian recognition given to practicing artists. The award consists of Rs. 50,000, a citation, an angavastram (a shawl) and tamrapatra (a brass plaque).
