PM Inaugurated the Curtain Raiser Activities Of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ (India@75)

PM inaugurates the curtain raiser activities of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’On 12th March 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the curtain raiser activities of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ (India@75), the government’s initiative to mark 75 years of India’s Independence at the event organised in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.It will continue till 15 August, 2023.

He also flagged off the Padyatra (Freedom March) from Sabarmati Ashram, Ahmedabad to Dandi, Gujarat as a part of the India@75 programme. This marks the 91st anniversary of Gandhi’s 1930 Dandi March.

He has also launched various cultural and digital initiatives for the celebration of India@75.

PM Modi launched a website for Amrit Mahotsav as well as an ‘Atmanirbhar Incubator’ that seeks to support around 40,000 families involved in traditional craft.

Key People:

Acharya Devvrat, governor of Gujarat; Vijay Rupani Chief Minister of Gujarat and Prahalad Singh Patel, Union Minister of State (independent charge), Ministry of Culturewere present at the event.

Committee headed by Amit Shah:

The Central government has constituted a committee under Union Home Minister Amit Shah to chalk out policies and planning of various events to be undertaken as part of the celebrations.

Highlights:

i.The 241 miles Padyatra has been undertaken by 81 marchers from Sabarmati Ashram which will end on 5th April 2021(lasting for 25 days)

ii.Union MoS Prahlad Singh Patel led the first lap of 75 kilometers of the padyatra.

iii.5 Pillars to celebrate 75 years of India’s independence are Freedom Struggle, Ideas at 75, Achievements at 75, Actions at 75 and Resolve at 75.

iv.He also urges the youths of the nation to take responsibility in documenting the history of the freedom fighters who sacrificed their life during the freedom movement.

v.The Mahotsav will be celebrated as a Jan-Utsav in the spirit of Jan-Bhagidari.

vi.Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav means elixir of energy of independence. It means elixir of inspirations of the warriors of freedom struggle; elixir of new ideas and pledges and nectar of Aatmnirbharta.

Efforts to preserve the history of Independence:

Various sites with historic importance were being revived, the sites include,

  • Sites associated with the Dandi Yatra were completed.
  • The site in Andaman, where Nethaji Subhash Chandra Bose hoisted the tricolour flag after the formation of the first independent government in India.
  • Sites associated with Baba Saheb have been developed in the form of Panchtirtha.
  • The memorial in Jallianwala Bagh and memorial of the Paika movement have also been developed.
