Overview of PM Modi’s visit to Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh on 22nd and 23rd February, 2024

  • During his visit, PM inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various development projects in both these states.

Highlights of PM visit to Gujarat

PM participated in Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF)

On 22nd February, 2024, Prime Minister (PM) attended the Golden Jubilee (50 years) celebrations of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad (Gujarat).

Key Dignitaries: The event was attended by Amit Shah, Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation, Parshottam Rupala, Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Bhupendrabhai Patel, Chief Minister (CM) of Gujarat.

Note: Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) owns Amul brand (Earlier, known as Anand Milk Union Limited).

i.PM Modi pledged to make GCMMF, the world number1 dairy company. At present GCMMF ranked at 8th position globally.

ii.PM highlighted that milk production in India in the last 10 years has increased by about 60%. Also, India’s per capita milk availability has also increased by about 40% in the last decade.

  • He also mentioned that dairy sector in India is growing at the rate of 6% as compared to 2% globally.

Key Points:

PM Modi inaugurated 5 new dairy projects which includes-

i.Setting up of modern cheese plant of Sabar Dairy with investment of Rs600 crore.

ii.A long-life Tetra Pack Milk Plant of Amul at Anand, Gujarat and the expansion of its Chocolate plant.

iii.He also inaugurated a 50,000 liters ice-cream plant at Sarhad Dairy in Kutch, Gujarat.

iv.Setting up of Bharuch Dairy branch in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

About Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF):

i.GCMMF was established in 1973.

ii.In last 50 years, GCMMF (Amul) emerged as India’s no.1 FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) company. Amul federation set to achieve a turnover of Rs 61, 000 crore in FY (2024-2025).

PM laid the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth more than Rs 60, 000 crore in Gujarat

PM Narendra Modi dedicated to the nation and laid the foundation stone of various development projects worth more than Rs 60,000 crore in Gujarat on 22nd February, 2024.

  • He launched multiple development projects related to various sectors such as: road, rail, energy, health, internet connectivity, tourism, power generation, education, water supply, urban development and tribal development across Gujarat.

PM dedicated to the nation and laid the foundation of multiple development projects at  Mahesana and Navsari, Gujarat.

Development Projects at Mahesana, Gujarat.

PM Modi at public function in Tarabh, Mahesana, Gujarat unveiled various projects worth more than Rs 13,500 crore. Some of the important projects include-

i.Setting up of Bharat Net Phase-II- Gujarat Fibre Grid Network Limited. It will provide high-speed internet to more than 8000 gram panchayats in Gujarat.

ii.Various projects were launched in rail sector such as: projects for rail line gauge conversion, new broad-gauge in Mahesana, Banaskantha districts of Gujarat.

iii.Multiple road projects in Kheda, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad and Mahesana.

iv.Main academic building of Gujarat Biotechnology University (GBU) at GIFT (Gujarat International Finance Tech-City) City, Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

v.Several water supply projects in Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad and Banaskantha, among others.

vi.Setting up of new district level hospital and Ayurvedic hospital in Anand district, Gujarat.

vii.Development  of Rinchhadiya Mahadev temple and lake at Ambaji region in Banaskantha.

viii.Establishment of Human and Biological Science Gallery in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

ix.Development of Air Force Station, Deesa, Gujarat.

Development Projects at Navsari, Gujarat

At Navsari, Gujarat, PM Modi dedicated to the nation various development projects worth more than Rs 47,000 crore.

i.Various packages for the development of Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway.

ii.Various road projects in Bharuch, Navsari, Valsad districts of Gujarat.

iii.Rural drinking water supply project in Tapi.

iv.Several road projects in Bharuch, Navsari and Surat districts of Gujarat.

v.Various water supply projects in Valsad, Gujarat.

vi.Various projects at S.S.G. Hospital Vadodara and also setting up of Regional Science Centre in Vadodara, Gujarat.

vii.Development of Bharuch-Dahej access controlled expressway.

viii.Projects for railway gauge conversion in Surat, Vadodara and Panchmahal.

ix.Establishment of school and hostel building and other projects in Narmada district, Gujarat among others.

PM laid the foundation stone of Gujarat’s 1st PM MITRA Park in Navsari

During his visit to Gujarat, PM initiated work commencement for the construction of Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park with an investment worth Rs 3,000 crores in Navsari, Gujarat.

About PM MITRA Scheme:

PM MITRA Park was introduced in Union Budget (2021-2022) by the Union Ministry of Textiles.

i.Under the scheme, PM MITRA Parks will developed by Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) owned by Centre and State government and will monitor the implementation of the project.

ii.Ministry of Textile will monitor the execution of these projects. Also, It will provide financial assistance in the form of Development Capital Support (DCS) up to Rs 500 crore per park.

iii.Government of India (GoI) planned to establish 7 PM MITRA Parks for the textile industry across India- Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra.

PM Modi inaugurated two new Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs) at Kakrapar Atomic Power Station

PM Modi dedicated to the nation two Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors (PHRs) with combined capacity of 1400 MegaWatt (MW) established at Kakrapar Atomic Power Station (KAPS) in Surat, Gujarat on 22nd February, 2024.

Key Points:

i.The new Unit-3 and Unit-4 at KAPS were developed by Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) and built at a cost of Rs 22, 500 crore.

  • Each unit has the capacity of generating 700 MW of electricity and they are the largest indigenous PHWRs.

ii.Both reatctors has the potential to produce 10.4 billion units of clean electricity per year.

iii.States like- Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa and Union Territory(UT) of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman& Diu will avail the benefit from these two reactors.

PM Modi laid the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth more than Rs13,000 crore in Varanasi

PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various development projects worth more than Rs 13, 000 crore on 23rd February, 2024 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

  • During his visit, PM launched about 23 schemes worth Rs 10,972 crore and laid the foundation for 12 schemes worth Rs 2195.07 crore in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

Projects related to Road sector:

PM laid the foundation stone of various road projects in Varanasi such as

i.4-laning of the Ghargra Bridge-Varanasi section of NH (National Highway)-233 and the 4-laning of the Sultanpur-Varanasi section of NH-56.

ii.Development of 6-laning of Phase-1 of Varanasi-Aurangabad section of NH-19, 4-laning of Package-1 Varanasi-Hanumana section on NH-35.

iii.ROB (Road Over Bridge) on Varanasi-Jaunpur section near Babatpur.

iv.He also laid the foundation stone for construction of Varanasi-Ranchi (Jharkhand)-Kolkata(West Bengal) Expressway Package-1.

  • These projects will help to improve road connectivity in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

Projects related to Urban Development

  i.PM inaugurated Urban Waste to Charcoal Plant by NTPC (formerly National Thermal Power Corporation) at Ramana.

   ii.Upgradation of  water supply network in sis-Varuna area.

  iii.Online effluent monitoring and SCADA(Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) automation of STPs(Sewerage Treatment Plants) and Sewerage pumping stations.

Other important projects launched in Varanasi

i.Redevelopment of public facilities at 5 Padavas of Panchkoshi Parikrama Marg and Pavan Path with 10 spiritual yatra.

ii.PM laid the foundation stone of projects for rejuvenation of ponds and redevelopment of parks in Varanasi and also, for design and development of 3D Urban Digital map and database.

iii.He laid the foundation stone of the National Institute of Fashion Technology(NIFT) in Varanasi.

iv.PM inaugurated the Sigra Sports  stadium Phase-1 and District Rifle Shooting range.

v.He inaugurated an HPCL(Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited) LPG bottling plant in Sewapuri.

vi.PM laid the foundation stone of new Medical College in Varanasi and also laid the foundation stone of the National Centre of Ageing at Banaras Hindu University(BHU). These projects will give boost to health infrastructure in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

PM Modi inaugurated Amul’s Banas Dairy Plant in Varanasi

PM inaugurated the Banas Kashi Sankul Milk Processing unit at UPSIDA(U.P. State Industrial Development Authority) Agro Park Karkhiyaon village in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. It also includes setting up of silk fabric printing common facility centre for weavers.

Later, PM attended the prize distribution ceremony at Swantantrata Sabhagar, BHU(Varanasi, U.P.).

  • PM presented the award to the winners of Kashi Sansad Gyan Pratiyogita, Kashi Sansad Photography Pratiyogita and Kashi Sansad Sanskrit Pratiyogita.
  • PM also interacted with the participants with their photograph entries on the theme of “Sanwarti Kashi”.
  • He also unveiled the booklet on Kashi Sansad Pratiyogita and a coffee table book.

PM inaugurated various Green Waterway initiatives in Varanasi

During his visit to Varanasi, PM inaugurated several Green Waterway initiatives in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. This marks a major milestone in clean energy and tourism.

Government of India(GoI) aims to transition towards greener and cleaner fuels as highlighted under the Harit Nauka-Inland Vessels Green Transition Guidelines.

Two Hybrid Electric Catamaran Vessels

PM inaugurated two hybrid electric catamaran vessels named- MV Guh and MV Nishadraj.

These vessels were built indigenously by Cochin Shipyard Limited(CSL) through Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW).

Note: MoPSW aims to encourage the contribution of Inland Water Transport (IWT) to 5% by 2030 as part of Maritime India Vission (MIV).

Features:

i.These vessels are powered by fast-charging batteries and can help to reduce carbon emissions by 400 Metric Tonnes(MT) annually.

ii.MV Gush vessel will sail on river Sari  in Ajodhya and MV Nishadraj on the river Ganga in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

Community Jetties

PM laid the foundation for 13 community jetties along the National Waterway-1(NW-1) in Varanasi and National Waterway 110 (NW-110) in Mathura and Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. These jetties launched under Jal Marg Vikas Project(JVMP).

About Jal Marg Vikas Project:

i.It is being implemented by Inland Waterways Authority of India(IWAI).

ii.Its primary objective is to improve the navigability of 1390 km stretch NW1 from Varanasi(U.P.) to Haldia(West Bengal).

Quick Pontoon Opening Mechanism System (QPOMS)

PM Modi also inaugurated Quick Pontoon Opening Mechanism System(QPOMS) in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

  • It will help to reduce the time for the manual dismantling and reassembly of the kulfi pontoon bridges across NW-1 in an efficient manner.

PM unveiled Sant Guru Ravidas Statue in Varanasi on his 647th birth anniversary

PM Narendra Modi unveiled the newly installed statue of Sant Ravidas on eve of his 647th birth anniversary on 23rd February,2024 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

ii.He also laid the foundation stone for the Sant Ravidas Museum and beautification of the park. It will be built at a cost of Rs 62 crore.
