Operation Smile – An Initiative to Trace Missing Children

As per the directions of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Cyberabad (IT hub of Hyderabad) Police has launched a campaign called ‘Operation Smile’ to rescue the missing children. A total of 11 teams have been formed to perform the task.

• The teams will go to shelter homes, railway stations, bus stands, religious places and other public places and take down the details and photographs of the children and post them.
• The photographs and details will be posted on the ‘Missing Child’ portal of Ministry of Women and Child Welfare Department and also be published in newspapers and telecast on news channels.
• The campaign aims to identify, track, locate, rescue and rehabilitate children who were either kidnapped or left home on their own and have been subjected to abuse, exploitation or employed as child labourers.
