Modi to inaugurate 1st Gandhian studies centre in china

Indian Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi, would  inaugurate Gandhian and Indian study centre at Shanghai’s prestigious Fudan University on may 16th. India would fund the centre, which is very important as Mahatma Gandhi is not that much popular in China though he is  around the world.

  • Rabindranath Tagore and Jawaharlal Nehru’s names have been included whereas Gandhiji’s name was left out on the list put up regarding the personalities who had influenced China’s course in the last 60 years.
  • OnMay 14th Indian PM would arrive for a 3 day visit, would sign an agreement for establishing yoga studies college at the University Of Nationalities in Yunnan province.
  • Although there are hundreds of private centres offering  short-term yoga courses across China, this would be the first college in the country offering such course.
  • Such a move would help in standardisation of yoga training as many yoga courses developed in China are seen as unprofessional.
  • In Beijing,Indian PM Modi would attend a program on yoga and Taichi,Chinese exercise that combines martial art with relaxation in motion at the famous Temple of Heavens.
  • Actors Aamir khan and Jackie Chan would share the stage during release of 3 films featuring India-China friendship on May14th.
  • Arriving onMay 14th, the Indian PM would hold informal talks with President of China Xi Jingping and then would go to Beijing for formal talks .
  • Modi would wind up his visit in Shangai, where he would be addressing the Indian community.

  • He is known for the Leadership in Indian independence Movement,philosophy of satyagraha,Ahimsa or nonviolence etc.
  • Gandhiji is known as Father of the Nation.
  • His birthday2nd October is Gandhi Jayanthi.
  • Gandhiji led the indian people in the famous Dandi Salt March in 1930 and Quit India Movement against the British in the year 1942.
  • Gandhiji was assassinated on January 30th 1948 by Nathuram Godse, a Hindu Nationalist.
