World Tuberculosis Day is observed on March 12, every year since 1982, to create awareness to the public about the dreadful tuberculosis (TB) and efforts to eliminate the disease.
Why March 24?
On March 24, in the year 1882, German microbiologist Robert Koch announced his discovery of the bacterium that causes tuberculosis. So March 24 was selected as Tuberculosis Day.

- Tuberculosis is a infectious disease caused by bacteria, mostly Mycobacterium Tuberculosis, which affects mainly the lungs.
