Kerala emerged champions with 159 points at the 57th National Inter-State Championships that was held from 15th – 18th July, 2017 in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. Tamil Nadu finished second with 110 points followed by Haryana with 101 points in overall team rankings.
Anu best woman athlete
Anu R. (400m, Kerala) emerged as the best woman athlete at 57th National Inter-State Championships with 1105 points.
- Davinder Singh Kang (Javelin Throw, Punjab) was the top athlete among men with 1127 points.
Sandeep Wins Men’s 20000m Gold At National Inter State Meet
Haryana’s Sandeep Kumar won the gold medal in the men’s 20000m race walk on Day 2 of the National Inter State Championships athletics meet, in Guntur on July 16, 2017.
- Sandeep clocked a timing of 1:27:01.52s.
- He was closely followed by Rajasthan’s Jitendra Singh(1:27:04.32s) and Baljinder Singh (1:29:38.72s) of Punjab, who finished third.
Soumya bags race walk title, Sheena wins triple jump gold
Soumya B won the gold medal in the women’s 20000m race walk on Day 3 of the National Inter State Championships athletics meet, in Guntur on July 17, 2017.
- Soumya won the gold with a timing of 1:42:23.68s ahead of Punjab’s Karamjit Kaur (1:44:47.69s) and Priyanka (1:45:44.28s) of Uttar Pradesh.
- Kerala’s N V Sheena won the gold in the women’s triple jump event on July 17, 2017.
- Sheena produced a 12.78m leap to win the women’s triple jump event. The silver and bronze medals went to Karnataka’s Joyline M Lobo (12.52m) and G Karthika (12.51m) of Andhra Pradesh
Amiya, Srabani Clinch Gold In National Inter State Athletics Meet
Continuing good performance from the recently concluded Asian Athletics Meet earlier this month, Amiya Kumar Mallick and Srabani Nanda put up a strong show clinching two golds at the National Inter State Championships athletics meet at Guntur in Andhra Pradesh.
- Amiya Kumar Mallick bagged gold in the men’s 200m run with a lap time of 21.65s while Asian Athletics bronze medallist Srabani Nanda clinched gold in women’s 200 m sprint event with a timing of 24.18s.
- Vipin Kumar (21.85s) of Manipur and Haryana’s Parveen (22.01s) came second and third, respectively.
- Similarly, 26 year old Srabani bagged the first position ahead of West Bengal duo Anwesha Roy Pradhan (24.37s) and Sonia Baisya (24.85).
