Janaushadhi Sugam app to access generic medicine benefits 325000 users

On 30th April 2020, more than 325000 users are benefited by the  “Janaushadhi Sugam” a mobile application developed by the Bureau of Pharma PSUs of India(BPPI) under the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India for the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP).Over 325000 people are using Janaushadhi SugamKey Points:

i.The Janaushadhi Sugam App helps the consumers to use the digital technology to locate the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Kendra (PMJAK) and provide directions through Google Maps and search for the availability of affordable generic medicine, analyze the comparison of generic and branded medicine in MRP and overall savings.

ii.Janaushadhi Sugam is a free mobile app that is available on both android and I-Phone platforms which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and Apple Store.

iii.The Pharmacists of PMBJP Kendra are providing home delivery service for the patients and elderly in the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.

iv.There are more than 6300 PMJAK’s functioning across the country covering 726 districts.

v.The app makes the lives of the users easier by using digital technology.

About PMBJP:

i.The objective of PMBJP is making quality medicine to be available for the poor and disadvantaged at an affordable price through the Jan Aushadhi(JA) Medical Store, an exclusive outlet to reduce the expenses in health care.

ii.The JA stores can be established by the individuals/agencies/NGOs in the premises of the Government Hospitals with space provided free of cost by the Government to operating agencies.

iii.The JA stores established anywhere else by private institutions/NGOs/trusts will be linked with the BPPI headquarters through the internet.
