International Girls in ICT Day 2021 – April 22

The International Girls in ICT Day is annually observed across the globe on the 4th Thursday in April to bring attention to the critical needs of the girls and women in the ICT sector.

The year 2021 marks the 10th anniversary of the International Girls in ICT(Information and communication technologies) day.

The International Girls in ICT Day 2021 was observed on 22nd April 2021.

  • The International Girls in ICT Day 2020 was observed on 23rd April 2020
  • The International Girls in ICT Day 2022 will be observed on 28th April 2022.

The theme of the International Girls in ICT Day 2021 is “Connected Girls, Creating Brighter Futures”. 

Aim:

To increase the representation of girls and women in the field of Information and communication technologies.

Background:

On 8th April 2011, The International Telecommunication Union(ITU) announced that Every year the 4th Thursday in April will be observed as the international Girls in ICT day.

The first annual International Girls in ICT Day was observed on 28th April 2011.

10 moments of Girls in ICT:

The 10 moments of Girls in ICT is a series of virtual events hosted by the ITU and its partners as a part of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the International Day of Girls in ICT.
