India, US Signed MoU for Hassle-Free Entry of Indians into America

India inked Memorandum of Understanding with United States to facilitate hassle free entry of Indians into the United States at Selected airports i.e providing for immediate security clearances.

Implementation:

On successful implementation of MoU, will provide speedy security clearances for pre-approved, low risk Indian travelers upon arrival in US at designated airports

The process would take few months

Features:

  • Occasional travelers would get speedy clearances at selected airports
  • Home Ministry engages on India’s entry into US Global Entry programme of Prime Minister visits to US
  • India moves towards paperless immigration for trusted travellers

Points delivered by Indian Delegate:

  1. After careful joint scrutiny and clearance by both countries, the approved Indian travellers will be extended the facility of expedited entry into the United States through automatic kiosks at selected airports
  2. Expedited entry for the Indian travellers at the US airports will enable easing of travel environment and will have greater impact on all kinds of people exchange between the two countries
  3. During last two years, several initiatives have been taken by the Government of India for easing travel from the United States to India
  4. Issuance of long term visas
  5. Introduction of electronic-tourist visas for US citizens

Global Entry Program:

  • The Program is existing at more than 40 US airports and 12 pre-clearance
  • More than 1.8 million people are enrolled in Global Entry
  • Approximately 50,000 new applications for the program are filed every month.
