India, US launch Fulbright-Kalam Climate Fellowship

The United States-India Educational Foundation formally launched U.S.-India Fulbright-Kalam Climate Fellowship on behalf of both the governments.

• The initiative will advance bilateral cooperation on climate change, which will enable Indian research scholars to work with American institutions in the field.
• In the inaugural year of the program will enable up to 6 Indian PhD students and post-doctoral researchers to work with U.S. host institutions for a period of 6-12 months on climate research and education.
• Climate fellowship named after the late President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, is part of a commitment made by the US President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to build long-term capacity to address climate change-related issues in both the countries.
• The fellowship is jointly funded by both governments and will be operated byThe United States-India Educational Foundation headquartered in New Delhi.

• Kalam fellowship intend to work in partnership to build long-term capacity in the United States and India by engaging scientific and technical research scholars and professionals related to climate research and education.
