ii.From the Indonesian Navy, KRI Sultan Hasanudin, a 90m Corvette took part in the exercise.
Key Points
- Previously, A PASSEX exercise was conducted between the Indian Navy and the Indonesian Navy on March 13, 2021, between INS Kalpeni, IN Dornier and KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda.
- PASSEXs are regularly conducted by the Indian Navy with friendly foreign navies while visiting each other’s ports or during an engagement at sea.
- ‘Garuda Shakti’ is a bilateral exercise between the Special forces of armies of India & Indonesia.
PASSEX
- It is usually conducted by 2 navies, to make sure that the navies are able to communicate and cooperate in times of war or humanitarian relief.
- The drills carried out during ‘PASSEX’ include flashing light drills, semaphore drills, and flag hoist drills.
