Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah inaugurates development works worth Rs 1052 cr in GujaratAmit Shah, Union Minister, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Cooperation (MHA), during his 2 days visit to Gujarat on 12th and 13th of August 2023, inaugurated various development works worth Rs.1052 crore in the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, Gujarat.

  • The development works were jointly done by the Government of India (GoI) and the Government of Gujarat.

Development works:

  • Began the renovation work of Revabai General Hospital.
  • Laid the foundation stone for the new six-floor building of Seth N.N. Patel Public College of Gujarat and began the works for rebuilding of the entire hospital.
  • Laid the foundation stone for the widening of 4 lane road from Randheja to Balwa in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

Key People:

Many dignitaries including Bhupendra Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat also participated in the event.

Highlights:

i.The Union Minister Amit Shah urged the hospitals to upgrade and register under the Ayushman Bharat –Pradhan Mantri Jan ArogyaYojana (AB-PMJAY), to benefit the poor by giving them treatment without any expenses.

ii.He distributed toys to the kids, under the Gujarat Institute of Housing and Estate Developers – CREDAI  (Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India)  (GIHED CREDAI), the real estate and infrastructure sector of Gujarat, in 150 Anganwadis of Gandhinagar.

  • He also took part in the tree plantation drive organized by GIHED-CREDAI in 450 societies.

iii.He inaugurated and dedicated the newly constructed garden by  Gandhinagar Urban Development Authority (GUDA) to the public, which provides all facilities for children as well as elderly people.

iv.He also inaugurated the Sub Registrar office in Mansa, built at a cost of Rs 2 crore.

Amit Shah laid Foundation Stone of IFFCO Nano DAP (Liquid) Plant at Gandhidham, Gujarat

On 12th August 2023, Union Minister Amit Shah, laid the foundation stone of Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO)’s Nano DAP (Di-ammonium Phosphate) (Liquid), Plant in Gandhidham, Gujarat.

  • The new plant has the potential to produce more than the existing IFFCO plants’, which produce 3 million tonnes of DAP, and the liquid fertilizer is going to give multi-dimensional benefits to India’s economy and agriculture sector.

Key People:

Several dignitaries including Dileep Sanghani, Chairman, IFFCO, were also present.

Nano DAP (Liquid):

i.Nano DAP (Liquid), developed by IFFCO, is a nanotechnology-based agri-input, which provides nitrogen and phosphorous to plants.

ii.IFFCO Nano DAP(liquid), launched in April 2023, is the world’s 1st liquid Nano DAP.

iii.It has the unique characteristic of remaining on the crop surface, thereby preserving the land, which not only ensures the crop’s access to DAP’s advantages but also safeguards the environment.

About the upcoming Plant in Gandhidham:

i.The forthcoming plant in Gandhidham is entirely funded by IFFCO’s equity, representing the equity of 4 crore farmers.

  • IFFCO’s money goes back to the farmer through the Primary Agricultural Credit Society (PACS) and the rest through cooperative societies.

ii.From this plant 2 lakh nano urea bottles of 500 ml each would be sent across the country and the world, which would reduce the import of 60 million bags of urea.

iii.It would also save fertilizer subsidy of about Rs.10,000 crore, which would come back to the farmers, it will also save foreign exchange of about Rs. 3,500 crore.

iv.This plant has a significant environmental benefit due to the zero liquid discharge, which will protect the environment and reduce the cost of fertilizers.

3 Multi-state Cooperative Societies:

The Union Minister elaborated on the Ministry of Cooperation’s formation of three multi-state cooperative societies to realize GoI’s vision of “Sahkar Se Samridhi”(Prosperity through Cooperation):

  • The first society will enhance seed quality, yield, and preservation;
  • The second society will aid in purchasing and exporting agricultural products;
  • The third Multi-State Cooperative Society has been formed for exports.

Note: This multi-state cooperative society will become an export platform to take the products of even the smallest farmer to the world market and the profit from this will not remain with the society but will go directly to the bank account of the farmers.

Key Highlights:

i.He also introduced a storage scheme for food grains under PACS, which promises cost-saving benefits in the transportation and storage of food grains.

ii.This initiative aligns with the GoI’s mission to establish 3 lakhs new PACS over the next 5 years, strengthening agricultural finance and produce distribution.

Amit Shah laid the foundation stone of Regional Hub of NSG

On 13th August 2023, Union Minister Amit Shah on his 2-day visit to Gujarat, laid the foundation stone of the Regional Hub of National Security Guard (NSG) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

  • He also unveiled a memorial plaque under the Prime Minister (PM) of India Narendra Modi’s “MeriMatiMeraDesh” campaign, to pay respect to the persons who laid down their lives for the motherland.

Key People:

Several dignitaries including MA Ganapathy, Director General, NSG were also present.

Points to note:

i.NSG has 4 regional centers in Mumbai (Maharashtra), Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Hyderabad (Telangana), and Kolkata (West Bengal) and with this foundation in Gujarat, it will become 5.

ii.NSG is a Federal Contingency World Class Zero Error Force to deal with terrorism effectively. It is a force specially equipped and trained to deal with the specific situation and is therefore, to be used only in exceptional circumstances to thwart serious acts of terrorism.

iii.Since its inception on 22nd September 1986, the NSG has carried out more than 100 special operations by eliminating hundreds of terrorists and saving the public.

  • GoI has sanctioned Rs.400 crore for the regional center which will be built on 60 acres of land in Lekawada (Gujarat) and this center will be completed in 30 months.

Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav:

i.It is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence and the glorious history of its people, culture, and achievements, which is concluded on 15th August 2023 and the Amrit Kaal of Independence is beginning from 15 August 2023 to 15 August 2047.

ii.In 2023 Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the PM instilled a sense of respect and tribute towards the freedom fighters who made the supreme sacrifice of their lives in the country’s freedom struggle from 1857 to 1947.

  • The current government has made India the fifth-largest economy in the world and aims to make it the third-largest before 2027.

Key Highlights:

i.3 ponds namely, Malav, Malan, and Chandranu will be developed and arrangements have also been made to fill all the 9 ponds around Mansa with rainwater.

ii.A four-lane road from Mansa to Gandhinagar will also be built and after the completion of this road, people would be able to reach Gandhinagar in 15 minutes and Ahmedabad in 30 minutes.
