- ADDS, promulgated by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, will set up a criterion for basic design aspects for the construction of DSFVs.
- Notably, the vessels constructed in compliance with ASDDS will attract a subsidy under the PMMSY scheme.
Members of Nodal Authority:
The Nodal Authority will be headed by the director of Kochi, Kerala based Central lnstitute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT). Its current director is Dr. Chandragiri Nagaraja Rao Ravishankar.
- The representatives are from Cochin Shipyard, Indian Register of Shipping and the Naval Architecture Department of the lndian lnstitute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur or IIT Madras.
–ASDDS will cover basic design aspects such as Outline Specifications, General Arrangement, Basic Calculations, Basic Structural Drawings, etc and will be prepared by Cochin Shipyard (CSL), technically vetted by the Central lnstitute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT) and approved in-principle by the Indian Register of Shipping (lRS), a ship classification society.
–For any additional requirement to the minimum basic parameter, approval has to be taken from the respective agency.
About Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY):
PMMSY is Central Government’s flagship scheme for focused and sustainable development of the fisheries sector with an estimated investment of Rs 20,050 crore for implementation during a five-year period beginning 1 April 2020 in all states/Union Territories, as a part of Aatmanirbhar Bharat package.
- Of this, an investment of about Rs 12,340 crore is proposed for beneficiary-oriented activities in marine, inland fisheries and aquaculture and about Rs 7,710 crore is for fisheries infrastructure.

i.In accordance with the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, the government is implementing a Rs 320-crore Enterprise Business System (EBS) at five major ports of Mumbai, Chennai, Deendayal, Paradip, Kolkata (including Haldia) to provide a digital port ecosystem.
ii.The government is in process to launch seaplane services in collaboration with the airline operators on several routes, including Delhi-Ayodhya. This process was initiated by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. It will be executed and implemented through Sagarmala Development Company Ltd (SDCL).
