Background:
i.The U-WIN portal is a replication of the COVID-19 vaccine management system Co-WIN and an important outcome of the government’s 100-day health agenda.
ii.U-WIN will also be linked to the government’s existing eVIN platform for inventory management.

- The vaccinator module (for vaccinators);
- The delivery point module (for healthcare workers at the delivery point); and
- The mobiliser module (for frontline workers).

ii.The platform tracks all vaccinations given, generating a color-coded, and digitally verifiable electronic vaccination (e-vaccination) certificate.
iii.Parents receive Short Message Service (SMS) reminders for upcoming vaccinations and can download digital certificates.
iv.The platform automatically generates a due list of children, aiding health workers to digitally record vaccination events, and facilitating accurate and easy record maintenance.
v.It will also help to connect all digital records through the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) IDs for comprehensive health record maintenance.
Benefits:
i.The digital approach can significantly improve the efficiency and accessibility of immunization services.
ii.The electronic registry, digital certificates, self-registration options, and automated alerts will improve the vaccination rates.
iii.This portal tackles issues like tracking individual immunizations and reducing the number of “zero-dose” and left-out children.
- This is particularly important for migratory populations.
Target:
The portal will target 2.9 crore pregnant women and 2.6 crore infants (0-1 years) annually by providing 11 vaccines against 12 vaccine preventable diseases through more than 1.2 crore vaccination sessions across the country.
