About National Commission for Scheduled Castes(NCSC)
Thawar Chand Gehlot, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is the responsible Minister for NCSC.
Purpose
To protect the Scheduled Castes and Anglo Indian communities against exploitation and to promote and safeguard their social, educational, economic and cultural interests, special provisions were made in the Constitution.
History
By amending the Constitution (89th Amendment) Act, 2003, the erstwhile National Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes was replaced by two separate Commissions namely- (i) NCSC (ii) National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST).

First
The first National Commission for Scheduled Castes was constituted in 2004 with Suraj Bhan as the chairman.
