- These rockets have been manufactured on the lines of the transfer of technology (ToT) agreement between Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and private sector, five years ago.
- With the entry of private sector, the single source dependency on Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) will be reduced.
Key Points:
-The technology for Pinaka rockets has been developed by Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE) and High Energy Material Research Laboratory (HEMRL), both units of DRDO.
The army has a large requirement for rockets of this class, which is pegged at over 1,000 units annually. With the successful evaluation, EEL can now qualify to bid if the Army floats a request for proposal (RFP) to make Pinaka rockets.
