1. Encomium – गुणगान

Meaning – a speech or piece of writing that praises someone or something highly.

Synonyms – eulogy, speech of praise, panegyric, paean, accolade, tribute, testimonial, compliment; praise, acclaim, acclamation, homage, extolment; rarelaudation, eulogium.

Usage – the poet produced an appropriate encomium after the king’s death.

2. Senile – बूढ़ा

Meaning – (of a person) having or showing the weaknesses or diseases of old age, especially a loss of mental faculties.

Synonyms – she couldn’t cope with her senile husband.

Usage – doddering, doddery, decrepit, aged, long in the tooth, senescent, failing, declining, infirm, feeble, unsteady, in one’s dotage, losing one’s faculties, in one’s second childhood, mentally confused, suffering from Alzheimer’s (disease), suffering from senile dementia; informalpast it.

3. Laconic – संक्षिप्त

Meaning – (of a person, speech, or style of writing) using very few words.

Synonyms – brief, concise, terse, succinct, short, economical, elliptical, crisp, pithy, to the point, incisive, short and sweet, compendious; abrupt, blunt, curt, clipped, monosyllabic, brusque, pointed, gruff, sharp, tart; epigrammatic, aphoristic, gnomic.

Usage – his laconic reply suggested a lack of interest in the topic.

4. Redundant – निरर्थक

Meaning – not or no longer needed or useful; superfluous.

Synonyms – unnecessary, not required, inessential, unessential, needless, unneeded, uncalled for, dispensable, disposable, expendable, unwanted, useless; surplus, surplus to requirements, superfluous, too much/many, supernumerary, excessive, in excess, extra, additional, spare.

Usage – many churches have become redundant over the last twenty years.

5. Cessation – समाप्ति

Meaning – the fact or process of ending or being brought to an end.

Synonyms – end, ending, termination, stopping, halting, ceasing, finish, finishing, stoppage, closing, closure, close, conclusion, winding up, discontinuation, discontinuance, breaking off, abandonment, interruption, suspension, cutting short; pause, break, respite, let-up.

Usage – the cessation of hostilities.

6. Stern – कठोर

Meaning – (of a person or their manner) serious and unrelenting, especially in the assertion of authority and exercise of discipline.

Synonyms – serious, unsmiling, frowning, poker-faced, severe, forbidding, grim, unfriendly, sombre, grave, sober, austere, dour, stony, flinty, steely, unrelenting, unyielding, unforgiving, unbending, unsympathetic, disapproving; rareRhadamanthine; informalboot-faced.

Usage – a smile transformed his stern face.

7. Vicious – शातिर

Meaning – deliberately cruel or violent.

Synonyms – brutal, ferocious, savage, violent, dangerous, ruthless, remorseless, merciless, heartless, callous, cruel, harsh, cold-blooded, inhuman, fierce, barbarous, barbaric, brutish, bestial, bloodthirsty, bloody, fiendish, sadistic, monstrous, villainous, murderous, homicidal, heinous, atrocious, diabolical, terrible, dreadful, awful.

Usage – there was a vicious killer at large.

8. Impede – बाधा डालना

Meaning – delay or prevent (someone or something) by obstructing them; hinder.

Synonyms – hinder, obstruct, hamper, handicap, hold back, hold up, delay, interfere with, disrupt, retard, slow, slow down, brake, put a brake on, restrain, fetter, shackle, hamstring, cramp, cripple; block, check, bar, curb, stop, thwart, frustrate, baulk, foil, derail, stand in the way of; informalstymie, foul up, screw up.

9. Enervate – कमज़ोर

Meaning – make (someone) feel drained of energy or vitality.

Synonyms – exhaust, tire, fatigue, weary, wear out, devitalize, drain, sap, weaken, make weak, make feeble, enfeeble, debilitate, incapacitate, indispose, prostrate, immobilize, lay low, put out of action; informalknock out, do in, take it out of one, shatter, poop, frazzle, wear to a frazzle, fag out; informalknacker; raretorpefy.

Usage – the scorching sun enervated her.

10. Embellish – संवारना

Meaning – make (something) more attractive by the addition of decorative details or features.

Synonyms – decorate, adorn, ornament, dress, dress up, furnish; beautify, enhance, enrich, grace; trim, garnish, gild, varnish; brighten up, ginger up; deck, bedeck, festoon, emblazon, bespangle; informaldo up, do out, jazz up, bedizen, caparison, furbelow.
