      On the occasion of World Hand Hygiene Day (WHHD) i.e. on May 5, 2022, the World Health Organization (WHO) launched the 1st Global Report on Infection Prevention and Control stating 70% of those infections can be prevented with good hand hygiene and other cost-effective practices.
      i. As per the report, Healthcare-associated infections (HAI) are among the most frequent adverse events occurring during health service delivery. On average, 1 in every 10 affected patients will die from their HAI.
      ii. In 2020-21, only 4 of 106 assessed countries met all of the WHO’s minimum requirements for national Infection Prevention and Control (IPC).
