BD Mishra & Ganga Prasad Given Additional Charge As Governor of Mizoram & Manipur

Brigadier (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd), governor of Arunachal Pradesh has been given additional charges as the Governor of Mizoram.

  • In addition to his duties, Mishra will discharge the function of the Governor of Mizoram, Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati, during his absence.

Sikkim Governor Ganga Prasad given additional charge of Manipur:

Ganga Prasad, Governor of Sikkim has also been given additional changes as the Governor of Manipur.

  • In addition to his duties, Ganga Prasad will discharge the function of the Governor of Manipur, Dr Najma A Heptulla, during her absence.

These appointments are with effect from the dates they assume charge in their respective offices at Mizoram and Manipur.

About Brigadier (Dr.) B. D. Mishra:

i.B. D. Mishra is a former Commander of the Counter Hijack Force of the National Security Guard (NSG).

ii.He was appointed as the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh in 2017.

iii.He is the President of the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) Society, a Deemed University under the Ministry of Human Resource Development

About Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati:

i.Hari Babu Kambhampati has served as a member of the 16th Lok Sabha from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

ii.He was appointed as the Governor of Mizoram in 2021.

About Ganga Prasad:

i.Ganga Prasad, the former governor of Meghalaya, has served as a member of the Bihar legislative council and has been the leader of the Bihar Legislative council during the NDA rule in Bihar.

ii.He was appointed as the Governor of Sikkim in 2018.

About Dr Najma A Heptulla:

i.Dr Najma A Heptulla has served as a member of the Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra for almost 6 terms. She was also elected as the Deputy Chairperson of Rajya Sabha for 4 times.

ii.She was appointed as the Governor of Manipur in 2016.

  • Article 155 of the Indian Constitution states that the Governor of a State shall be appointed by the President by warrant under his hand and seal.
  • As per Article 159, The Chief Justice of the concerned State High Court administers the oath of office to the Governor.
