- GAIL India Limited won the ‘Innovation Award – India’ for reduction in LNG Shipping cost & emissions through Ship-to-Ship (STS) transfer of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) with backhauling.
- It also won ‘Midstream Project of the Year – India’ for the installation of the first floating Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh (UP).These awards are presented under the Asian Oil & Gas Awards.
About STS transfer of GAIL:
GAIL achieved a groundbreaking Ship-to-Ship (STS) transfer in Gibraltar, transferring cargo from Castillo De Santisteban to QatarGas’ LNG vessel Al Gharrafa. This marked the world’s first STS between a conventional LNG vessel and a Q-Flex LNG vessel.

GAIL’s innovative floating CNG station on the River Ganga at Namo Ghat, Varanasi, is the first of its kind globally, facilitating the transition of motorized boats from polluting fuels to cleaner and affordable CNG.
