Asian Cricket Council (ACC) designated Sumathipala as its chief

Thilanga Sumathipala, who was recently elected as the President of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), has also become the head of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

  • He will succeed Sri Lankan Jayantha Dharmadasa.

1964 born Uduwatuwage Janath Priya Thilanga Sumathipala is a Sri Lankan politician who is currently the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka since 2015.

  • Thilanga Sumathipala has served as the President of ACC during the year 1997-1998.
  • He was the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka in 1997–1998, 2000–2001 and 2003–2004.
  • From 1998–2000 he was the director of the International Cricket Council.
  • He was also the chairman of the Asian Cricket Committee in 2000–2001.
  • Previously he served as Deputy Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training.
  • He is also the chairman of the Thimbirigasyaya Divisional Secretariat Development Coordination Committee and the managing director of one of the largest private corporate groups of companies in Sri Lanka.
