Apurva Chandra appointed as Secretary of MoH&FW; Sanjay Jaju Appointed as Secretary of MIB

Apurva Chandra, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), has been appointed as the Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare(MoH&FW).

  • Sanjay Jaju was appointed as the New Secretary of MIB succeeding Apurva Chandra.
  • Before the appointment, Sanjay Jaju has been serving as the Officer on Special Duty(OSD) in Telangana.

Note: Apurva Chandra has been holding additional charge as the Secretary of MoHFW since January 2024.

About Apurva Chandra:

i.Apurva Chandra is a 1988-batch IAS officer from the Maharashtra cadre.

ii.Previously, he has served as the Secretary in the Ministry of Labour & Employment.

iii.He has also served at various capacities in the Ministry of Defence(MoD)and the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas(MoPNG). He has also served as Director General (Acquisition), MoD.

iv.He has also served as joint secretary in the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Now the Ministry of Education from August 2011 to February 2013.

About Sanjay Jaju:

i.Sanjay Jaju is a 1992-batch IAS officer from the Telangana cadre.

ii.Previsouly, he has served as the Additional Secretary in the Department of Defence Production, MoD and Director of the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), Ministry of Road Transport & Highways(MoRTH).

iii.He has also served as Secretary (Information Technology (IT), and Communications, and Food and Civil Supplies Departments) Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Rajiv Mani takes additional charge as Secretary of Legislative Department, MoL&J

Rajiv Mani, an Indian Legal Service (ILS) officer, has been given additional charge as the Secretary of the Legislative Department under the Ministry of Law and Justice(MoL&J) for 2 years with immediate effect till the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders.

  • He is currently serving as the additional secretary in the Department of Legal Affairs MoL&J.

Note: The post has been vacant since the retirement of Rita Vashisht in September 2023. S K G Rahate, Secretary in the Department of Justice, held additional charge as the Secretary of the Legislative Department since October 2023.

Key Points:

ACC has also approved the appointment of Manoj Kumar, Founder and Managing Partner of Hammurabi & Solomon Partners, as Additional Secretary in the Legislative Department on a contract basis for 2 years.
