Alfred Bernhard Nobel

Lifetime:  1833 – 1896

Renowned for: The inventor of dynamite and holder of 355 patents. Nobel prize is created by him. In his will he left 31 million SEK (today about 265 million dollar) to fund the prizes. In 1895 Nobel prize foundation was laid. The synthetic element Nobelium was named after him.
