70th British Academy Film Awards Winner List

The 70th British Academy Film Awards commonly known as the BAFTA Awards was held on February 12, 2017 at the Royal Albert Hall in London to honour the best British and international contributions to film in the year 2016. The awards are presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).

  • The Movie La La Land won the most awards at the event by winning total five honors including Best Film, Best Director– Damien Chazelle, Best Cinematography-Linus Sandgren, Best Original Music-Justin Hurwitz and Best Actress in a Leading Role-Emma Stone.
  • The BAFTA Fellowship award was presented to the hollywood’s legendary comedian and filmmaker Mel Brooks (90) by Duke of Cambridge Prince William. 70th British Academy Film Awards Winner List
  • The BAFTA Fellowship is a lifetime achievement award presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) since 1971 in recognition of outstanding achievement in the art forms of the moving image.

About British Academy Film Awards 

The British Academy Film Awards are presented in annually in an award show hosted by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) to honour the best British and international contributions to film.

  • British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) was founded in 1947 as The British Film Academy, by David Lean, Alexander Korda, Carol Reed, Charles Laughton, Roger Manvell and others.
  • In 1958, the Academy merged with The Guild of Television Producers and Directors to form The Society of Film and Television and eventually became The British Academy of Film and Television Arts in 1976.
  • The BAFTA awards consist of a theatrical mask designed by American sculptor Mitzi Cunliffe.
