Wrestling: India bags 8 Medals at Matteo Pellicone Ranking Series 2021 held in Rome, Italy 

Bajrang Punia takes gold and number one rankThe 14-member Indian Wrestling Contingent bagged 8 medals (2 Gold, 1 Silver, 5 Bronze) at the Matteo Pellicone Ranking Series 2021 held at Rome, Italy from March 4-7, 2021.  The series was conducted for the categories of Freestyle, Greco-Roman & Women Wrestling.

  • Around 26 Countries participated in the Tournament which was organized by the United World Wrestling (UWW).

Highlights

  • Bajrang Punia won his 2nd Consecutive Gold Medal in the Men’s 65 Kg (Freestyle) of the Matteo Pellicone Ranking Series event. With this victory, he became the World Number 1 in the 65 Kg category.
  • Vinesh Phogat clinched the Gold Medal in the 53 Kg of Women’s Wrestling, with this she also became the World Number one.
