Vyas Samman Award for 2014

Renowned Hindi writer Kamal Kishore Goyanka has been selected for the prestigious Vyas Samman Award for 2014 for his book ‘Premchand Kee Kahaniyo Kaa Kaalkramanusar’, a chronological study of short stories of Premchand, one of the foremost Hindi writers.

The Vyas Samman Award is an annual award instituted by the K K Birla Foundation. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 2.5 lakhs. The selection for the award has been made by a committee headed Surya Prasad Dixit, Former head of Lucknow University.

  • Munshi Premchand was one of the greatest writers of modern Hindustani Literature.
  • The two most prestigious literary honors in India are Sahitya Akademi Fellowship and Jnanpith Award. 
  • To honor Premchand, GOI started Premchand Fellowship in 2005 for persons of eminence in the field of Culture from SAARC countries.
  • Munshi Premchand has been famously referred as “Upanyas Samrat”, which means Emperor of Novels.
