UNDP launches 'Sahi Disha' campaign to celebrateThe United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) launched ‘Sahi Disha’ campaign to celebrate the livelihoods and entrepreneurship of women in rural India. The campaign aims to highlight the issues that affect the rural women’s opportunity to access jobs, livelihood and to establish enterprises to become self-reliant.

About Disha initiative:

i.The Disha initiative is a 5-year partnership between UNDP and IKEA Foundation

ii.The initiative enables the women to gain access to job and livelihood opportunities across 5 states:

  • Delhi NCR
  • Haryana
  • Karnataka
  • Maharashtra
  • Telangana.

iii.The initiative also provides psycho-social support to mentor and empower women in starting their own enterprises, challenging the gender bias at home and in society.

Aim:

  • To help 1 million underprivileged women in India to learn marketable skills and get income opportunities.
  • To help women to become economically self-sufficient to provide better opportunities for their families and future generations.

On August 26, 2020, the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), Ministry of Finance in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) India launched the Sustainable Finance Collaborative (SFC). In this regard, a three days consultation centered on the broad scope of Sustainable Finance architecture in India was held to accelerate green finance by bringing together leading experts and organizations.
