Sourav Ganguly awarded “Honorary Life Membership” by MCC

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has been awarded the honorary life membership of the prestigious Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC).

Ganguly, who has also been a member of the MCC World Cricket committee since July 2014, averaged over 40 in Tests and One Day Internationals for India and took 132 wickets across 424 matches.

Ganguly, affectionately called Dada and the Prince of Calcutta, retired from all forms of international cricket in 2012 after playing for India for 16 long years.

Marylebone Cricket Club

• Marylebone Cricket Club is the world’s most active cricket club in London founded in 1787.
• It owns and is based at, Lord’s Cricket Ground in St John’s Wood, London.
• There are more than 300 Honorary Life Members of MCC out of a total Full Membership of 18000.
• Honorary Life Membership is awarded by the MCC Committee to individuals in recognition of the service.

• Ganguly full name is Sourav Chandidas Gangopadhyay & born in 8 July 1972.
• Ganguly in his 16 years of play made 7212 runs at an average of 42.17 in Tests and 11363 runs at an average of 41.02 in One Day Internationals (ODIs).
• He was awarded with the Padma Shri in 2004 and Banga Bibhushan Award of West Bengal government in 2013.
• He retired from ODIs in 2007, Tests in 2008 and from all formats of International cricket in 2012.
