Pakistan confers highest civilian award on Chinese president

Pakistan government on Tuesday, 21st April, conferred the country’s top most civilian award named Nishan-e-Pakistan to the President of China, Mr. Xi Jingping, for his exceptional contribution in actively encouraging relationship between the two countries. It was at the president house , that the award giving function took place, where the Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain bestowed the award on the 61year old chinese president.

The award function was attended by Pakistan Prime minister Mr.Nawaz Sharif,Federal Ministers,members of National Assembly and Senate, some Chinese representatives and other important dignitaries. Mr Xi,also general secretary of the ruling communist party, was given warm welcome in the presidents house in a small open top motor vehicle drawn by horses.Mr Xi Jingping held bilateral talks with the Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain. Grand lunch was hosted by the Pakistan President for the Chinese President. Mr XI,in his first visit to Pakistan, unveiled a $46 billion corridor project.

FACTS ABOUT NISHAN-E-PAKISTAN:

  • The award is most prestigious civilian award,given by the government of Pakistan for the highest degree of service to country
  • The award was first established in March 1957 .
  • Unlike other awards, this award is highly restricted and prestigious and is conferred for distinguished services to Pakistan country.
  • Nelson Mandela,Morarji Desai are among the recepients of this prestigious award.
