March 1 : Zero Discrimination Day

March 1 is observed as Zero Discrimination Day to create awareness to people from all corners of the world, about the evil consequences of discrimination, to celebrate diversity, and to reject discrimination. The theme for 2015 Zero Discrimination Day is Open Up, Reach Out

In the world, lakhs of women and girls in every part of the world are suffering from extreme violence and abuse and they are unable to claim their rights or get access to medical services, education or employment. People are facing discrimination at every place such as work, school and health-care, and even in public places.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said “Discrimination is a violation of human rights and must not go unchallenged. Everyone has the right to live with respect and dignity.”
