Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw ranks second in the global list of ‘Medicine Makers’

Biocon founder and managing director Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw has been ranked one of the most influential executives in the world in the field of medicine by a top UK-based medical publication.

  • Mazumdar-Shaw, who is easily one of India’s most well-known women entrepreneurs,ranked second on ‘The Medicine Maker Power List’ 2015.
  • Anthony Fauci of US was ranked number one on the list.
  • He is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, USA.
  • She is the only Indian person to figure on the list.
  • Shaw appears on the list alongside global leaders from the industry, including CEOs, professors, Nobel Prize winning researchers and many other celebrated scientists from the pharmaceutical world.

About The Medicine Maker Power List:

  • An index of the 100 most influential people across the world in the field of medicine.
  • The Medicine Maker is a UK-based publication.
  • The power list was compiled based on reader nominations and recommendations from a panel of expert judges.
  • The list was developed by the publication in three stages.
  1. In stage one it invited readers to nominate those who they thought deserved recognition.
  2. In stage two, a jury of four noted medicine makers (who prefer to remain anonymous) selected their top 100 from the slate of nominees: the results were consolidated into a list of 100 names.
  3. In the final stage, the jury ranked the list, and the average rankings were combined to provide the final power list.
