Kerala Startup ties up with SCTIMST to launch IoT based BIN-19 & UV SPOT: COVID-19

Mask Disposal Smart Bin & UV Light-Based Disinfection DeviceOn June 11, 2020 Kerala Startup VST Mobility Solutions, has launched Internet of Things(IoT) based (facility that works without any human touch) automated mask disposal machine, “BIN-19” & “UltraViolet(UV) SPOT”, a UV light-based multipurpose disinfector in association with Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology(SCTIMST). The BIN-19 is developed using Chitra UV based face mask disposal bin technology from SCTIMST. This is the 1st time such facilities are available in Kerala.

  • BIN-19 was formally launched by Ernakulam District Collector S. Suhas by installing a unit at his office along with UV SPOT.
  • The products are registered with the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation(CDSCO) & were tested by SCTIMST as per the guidelines of the Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR).

About BIN-19:

BIN-19 is used to collect & disinfect used Face-Mask. It also has a facility to sanitise hands when the user drops the mask into it.

IoT features of BIN-19: IoT Auto Sanitizer Dispenser(alerts if it’s empty), Mobile Application to navigate or find Bin-19, Web Portal for Status Alerts, Power ON/OFF alerts, Box open alerts.

About UVSPOT:

i.UVSPOT is a multipurpose disinfectant device which disinfects a board range of microorganisms with internal reflective surfaces and UltraViolet C(UVC) Lamp

ii.The device is mainly used to dispose of contaminated or used facemask & reuse UVC-stable metallic products.
