Indian creates Guinness World Record in Yoga

Hong Kong based Indian Yoga teacher Yogaraj CP has created a new Guinness World Record by performing Yoga continuously for 40 hours and 15 minutes in Hong Kong. The 29-year-old Yoga Teacher started his performance on February 13, 2015, and continued for straight 40 hours. Yogaraj has performed more than 1500 asanas during his performance. He dedicated his achievement to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing ‘International Day of Yoga‘ (June 21) to the world.

Yogaraj started practicing Yoga at the age of five and began teaching when he was 12.  In 1997, he was awarded “The International Best Yoga Demonstrator” by the Government of Pondicherry.

  • The wordyoga” comes from the Sanskrit root yuj, which means “to join” or “to yoke”.
  • Patanjali is known as ‘The Father of Yoga’.
  • The eight chakras associated with Yoga are Mooladhara, Swadhisthana, Manipura, Anahata, Vishuddhi, Ajna, Bindu, and Sashara.
