HAL, Alliance Air inked pact to deploy Civil Do-228 Plane in Arunachal Pradesh

HAL, Alliance Air join forces to supply civil Do-228 plane

On September 26, 2021, the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) inked a leased agreement with Alliance Air Aviation Limited for the deployment of two HAL’s Civil Dornier-228 (Do-228) aircraft in Arunachal Pradesh (AR). This deal envisages enhancing Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) in the region as it will connect remote parts of AR.

It was signed by Apurba Roy, General Manager, Transport Aircraft Division, Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), HAL and Arun Kumar Bansal, Head of Engineering, Alliance Air Aviation Limited in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

  • The event was also attended virtually by AR Chief Minister (CM) Pema Khandu along with other officials.

About HAL Do- 228:

It is indigenous 19-seater multirole utility aircraft featuring short take-off and landing, and ability to land and take-off from semi-prepared runways.

  • It will be used for VIP (Very important person) transport, passenger transport, air ambulance, flight inspection roles, cloud seeding, and recreational activities like para jumping, aerial surveillance, photography and cargo applications.

Points to be noted:

i.HAL’s Transport Aircraft Division, Kanpur looks after manufacturing of Hindustan-228 aircraft.

ii.Alliance Air is an Indian regional airline and a wholly owned subsidiary of Air India.
