Flipkart to implement ‘Medicines from the Sky’ project in Telangana 

Flipkart partners with Telangana to conduct pilot project on drone deliveries of vaccinesFlipkart partnered with Telangana Government to implement the “Medicines from the Sky” project on pilot basis in the state, to supply COVID-19 vaccines & emergency medical supplies to the rural inaccessible areas using Drones.

i.Flipkart will implement the project on Pilot basis for 6-days using cutting edge technologies to supply medicines.

ii.Technologies like geo mapping, routing of shipments and track and trace of location, which are currently used by Flipkart for delivery of goods will be implemented in the drone project.

Note – In June 2021, e-commerce firm Dunzo Digital (assisted by Google) announced a similar drone delivery project in Telangana.

“Medicine from the Sky” Project

Background – An initiative by Telangana state government to provide safe & reliable pickup and delivery of health care items to the rural & less accessible areas using drones

Partners – Telangana government has partnered with World Economic Forum (WEF), NITI Aayog & HealthNet Global to receive technical support

Methodology – Experiments will be conducted using Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone flights for delivery of emergency medicines like COVID-19 vaccines
