How are you ? Hope you and your family are doing well. I was very disheartened to hear in your last letter when you mentioned about your son, Rahul’s addiction towards online gaming and extreme usage of internet. These days it has become a common phenomenon for children to neglect their studies and outdoor activities and only engrossed in online and internet oriented activities.
I would advise you to talk to him like a friend and make him understand that this very time which he is wasting will not return back. Try to make him comprehend that at this point of time his studies are more important which will shape his career. I would also suggest you that you should take initiative and take him for swimming , play cricket and badminton with him and help him in doing productive activities. Taking mobile and laptop instantly will not serve the purpose and rather it would make him more aggressive and bitterness will engender in him towards you.
I know it is a difficult period for your family as Rahul is disinterested in everything and only prioritises online games. But it is our duty as parents to make our children realise their mistakes and at such a tender age , it is not advisable to be intrusive with them. Engaging him in other work and activities will help him in reducing his time for games.
I would just recommend you to be calm and handle the situation patiently. At the end everything will be good. If you ever need my help or guidance , I am just a call away.
