Dashboard launched for Teacher Education Institutes to improve quality of teacher trainingThe Directorate of Teacher Education(TE) and State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Govt of Odisha in collaboration with United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Odisha launched a Geographic Information System (GIS)-based interactive dashboard for Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs). The technical support for the dashboard is given by Structural Dynamics Research Corporation (SDRC).

Purpose– To enable TEIs to monitor the annual academic calendar and improve the quality of teacher training.

Need– To equip faculties and student teachers of the TEIs of State to move from a manual based to Information and communications technology (ICT) based platform.

About the Dashboard:

i.It collects information on Human Resources(HR), infrastructure and academic indicators across TEIs. It is a one-stop monitoring solution for all TEIs.

ii.It can publish the unified training and academic calendar for all the TEIs.

iii.It has a common repository that enables TEIs equipped with the network to share their own knowledge products with other TEIs.

iv.The State and district level factsheet/dashboard are created on key performance indicators like laboratories and other resources.

v.It also develops a mechanism to get students’ feedback for further analysis and corrective actions.
