CSC Partnered with IIT Delhi to Set Up Design & Innovation Lab for Rural Entrepreneurs

CSC partners IIT Delhi to set up innovation lab in rural areaOn 29th December 2020, the Common Services Centers(CSC) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology(MeitY) partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi to set up a design and innovation lab named “Design and Innovation in VLE’s Indigenous Network Ecosystem(DIVINE) Lab”, which will research on new products and services for Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLE). 

  • The design and innovation lab will be established at the Department of Design, IIT Delhi.
  • Under this MoU, CSC will provide IIT Delhi Students with the access to the network of CSC and identify problems in rural India.

DIVINE Lab:

Aim:

  • To enable connection between young talents of the nations with VLEs to create solutions for the rural problem using design and technology.
  • To channelize the rural connection for the students of IIT Delhi and faculty and conduct continuous research in the rural entrepreneurial ecosystem and design new products and services for VLEs.

Benefits:

i.The lab will promote design and innovations among the VLE.

ii.The Lab will conduct research on design led innovations which are related to supporting the livelihood of the VLEs and to enhance the overall entrepreneurial outlook.

iii.The world class research infrastructure and the expertise available at IIT Delhi will help to design and innovate solutions to the problems of rural India using the network of VLE’s across India.

iv.This will develop the digital content for new skilling and education courses for VLEs.

About Common Services Centers(CSC):

i.CSC is a mission mode project under the Digital India Programme of the Government of India.

ii.MeitY established the Common Services Centers(CSC) e-Governance Services India Limited, a Special Purpose Vehicle(SPV) to implement the CSC Scheme.
