- During the inauguration the state’s Deputy CM and minister for higher education Dr. C N Ashwath Narayana has informed that the state has signed three agreements with different firms to impart skill training to the youths of the state to help them get lucrative jobs abroad.
About Agreements:
The agreements are in line with the new National Education Policy.
- In one of the three agreements, the ITI trained youth will be further trained by Peenya Industrial Association member industries. In the second agreement, a skill university has come forward to train the apprentice in various trades. In the third agreement, a learning foundation has come forward to train ITI students in entrepreneurship.
Key Points:
–During the inauguration it was also informed that Karnataka will soon get a new medical education policy and more medical colleges will be set up through public private partnership (PPP).
The outlay required for setting up medical college is Rs 600-700 crore.
–If it is built through PPP, it will reduce the burden on state exchequer and also help provide affordable medical education and treatment to the needy. This model is being adopted in Gujarat.

–The central government plans to set up 22 AIIMS or one in each state across the country in compliance with a national health policy that was formulated in 2002 by the previous NDA government under the then Prime Minister A.B.Vajpayee.
–The NDA government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has permitted setting up of 157 medical colleges over the last 6 years since it came to power in 2014.
–As per the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) guidelines, there should be one doctor for 1,000 people, India has one doctor for 12,000 population.
