Over 4.2 lakh posts vacant in Central Government

Over 4.2 lakh posts in various central government ministries are vacant, Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh informed the Rajya Sabha. Out of the total sanctioned strength of 36,49,468, the number of vacant posts in various ministries and departments is 4,20,547.

The number of direct recruitments made by Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) during the last three years is as per table below:
