2020 ATP Finals – Overview

Daniil Medvedev beat Dominic Thiem to win ATP Tour FinalsThe 51st Edition (51st edition of Singles, 46th edition  of doubles) of 2020 ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) officially known as 2020 Nitto ATP Finals took place from November 15-22, 2020 at The O2 Arena, London, United Kingdom. It is organized by the Association of Tennis Professionals  (ATP).

i.ATP Finals is an Annual season-ending event for the 8 highest ranked singles players and double teams on the  ATP Tour.

ii.London has held ATP Finals for the last 12 years,  the 2021 tournament is set to be  moved to Turin in Italy.

iii.The Tournament is played on Hard Court and is a men’s tennis tournament.

Daniil Medvedev beats Dominic Thiem to win Singles Title of  2020 ATP Finals

Daniil Medvedev (Russia) beat Dominic Thiem (Austria) to win the Single’s Title of 2020 ATP Finals for the first time.

i.Medvedev is the first Russian to win the season-ending title since Nikolay Davydenko in 2009.

ii.Medvedev became only the 4th player in ATP history to beat World’s Top Three Ranked Tennis Players in the same Tournament. He beat Novak Djokovic (World No. 1), Rafael Nadal (World No. 2) & Dominic Thiem (World No. 3).

iii.Other 3 players who have achieved this feat are Spain’s David Nalbandian (Madrid 2007), Serbia’s Novak Djokovic (Montreal 2007) and Germany’s Boris Becker (Stockholm 1994).

Wesley Koolhof, Nikola Mektic claim ATP Finals Doubles Title

Wesley Koolhof (Netherlands), Nikola Mektic (Croatia) beat Jurgen Melzer (Austria), Edouard Roger-Vasselin (France) to claim the Doubles Title  at the 2020 ATP Finals.  This is their First Title Together.
